PC Simon Harwood and Article 6 of the Human Rights Act

The request was refused by Crown Prosecution Service.

Dear Crown Prosecution Service,

Will you please explain why you are continuing with a prosecution against PC Simon Harwood when you know perfectly well that the Metropolitan police are deliberately and illegally withholding tape recorded material from his defence team. (The same tape recorded material which should have been disclosed in the case of Gary Dobson and David Norris in their trial for the murder of Stephen Lawrence). I had a visit from DCI Clive Driscoll, the head of the Stephen Lawrence inquiry recently, and he informed me that he had received a letter from one of the defendant's solicitors requesting that the concealed evidence be handed over.

With this in mind, would it not be sensible and prudent to adjourn PC Simon Harwood's trial so as not to deprive him of his right to a fair trial under Article 6 of the Human Rights Act ?

Yours faithfully,

Emlyn Welsh
