PC Glen Crossland

The request was refused by Thames Valley Police.

Edward Williams

Dear Thames Valley Police,

I was thrilled to see on Youtube that the PC Glen Crosland has been given an award by you.
https://youtu.be/qSAqmB9c7sg

I understand however, that you/Glenn are being sued as a result of Glenn's alleged actions:
https://youtu.be/7dzM56Rkq28

"Just to let you know how low the bar of competence is among police officers these days, Thames Valley Police have just awarded the clueless cop in this video - Glen Crosland - Community Police Officer of the Year for 2018.

Ironically they have given him this award at the same time he is being sued for the assault, battery, false imprisonment, interference with goods and breach of data protection depicted in this video."

REQUEST
I would like all records held relating to allegations of misconduct of any kind by PC Crossland. I am not asking for records which are subject to LPP.

COMMENT
It is in the public interest that officer records are available for inspection by the public. This serves to ensure that the police are shown to be accountable and transparent. It also serves to help ensure that officers (and other staff) behave in accordance with the law, and with good police practice.

If you decline the request then please give full reasons.

Thank you, and once again - well done PC Crosland!

Yours faithfully,

Edward Williams

Public Access, Thames Valley Police

Dear Requester

It is our belief that you have made this request using a pseudonym.  As
you may be aware, anyone may make a request under the Freedom of
Information Act, and once that request is in compliance with Section 8 of
the legislation, a public authority is obliged to comply with it.  This is
linked to the general principle of FOI in relation to decisions on
disclosure being based on an “applicant blind principle.”  However, if the
request does not comply with the rules within Section 8, it does not
legally constitute a valid request.  This is very important, as the
public’s access to the legal processes linked to this legislation are not
available if it does not constitute a legal request, for example being
able to complain to the Information Commissioner.

The key point from this, in relation to your request, is the fact that
you, as the applicant, must use your real name.  In the Information
Commissioner’s guidance regarding the principle of applicant blind, there
is an important feature which states; there are three obvious exceptions
under the Act to this general principle:

The first is in relation to the consideration of whether a request is
vexatious or repeated.  The identity of the applicant will need to be
known to decide whether a request is repeated; knowledge of the
applicant’s identity and of their previous conduct may be a relevant
factor in considering whether a request is vexatious.  Therefore, before
we are able to proceed, we require evidence that "Edward Williams" is in
fact your real name.  This can be posted to the address below or emailed
directly to us.

Once this is received, we will be happy to proceed.

Kind regards

The police are so obsessed with obtaining peoples names and identities that they're even at it when it comes to simple Freedom of Information requests.

I just saw the latest Crimebodge video revealing Thames Valley Police paid out £3000 in compensation for PC Glen Crossland: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRcz-jaI... (for anyone reading this, more information about Crimebodge can be found here: https://crimebodge.com )

As PC Glen Crossland was awarded "Thames Valley Police Community Officer of the Year 2018" then I presume Thames Valley Police think he's one of their better officers, which means the rest of their officers must be even worse! Extremely worrying indeed.

I ended up here as I was shocked PC Crossland was given an award by Thames Valley Police and basically wanted to make the same request you've made. I've decided not to for now because I don't think it will help with this FOI request, or the one I would make, as they may try to say we are the same person making vexatious or repeated requests (even though I'm sure there are other people who will learn about PC Glen Crossland's unlawful behaviour, along with the ludicrous award, and want to know if there are any other allegations of misconduct).

I spoke with the Information Commissioner's Office regarding this FOI request and explained the situation and they said "This should be brought to us a complaint".

All the guidance from the ICO indicates that Thames Valley Police were wrong to refuse your FOI request on the basis that you may be using a pseudonym. Why would they even assume that? It feels like they just don't want to answer the question so are trying whatever possible to get you off their back (which makes me suspect there are other misconduct cases for PC Glen Crossland, otherwise I'm sure they would love to say that this was an "isolated incident", especially when the ICO's guidance for public bodies states "Even if a public authority suspects that the requester isn’t using their real name, this doesn’t mean that it can’t answer the request"). Surely it would be easier for Thames Valley Police to answer this simple request rather than waste their own time with needless correspondence.

Some basic info about pseudonyms and FOI request can be found here https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/help/priv... and more on the ICO website here: https://ico.org.uk/media/for-organisatio... and also here: https://ico.org.uk/media/for-organisatio...

I've read a lot of FOI responses over the years and I have to say that police forces around the country are the "best" public bodies at wriggling out of giving full and honest answers. It really is scandalous.

I hope you pursue this FOI request and update it with the results. Cheers!

Just noticed his name is actually PC Glen Crosland (only one s, not two) as seen here https://www.police.uk/thames-valley/N106... "PC Glen Crosland is part of the local policing team for Aylesbury Town Centre."

The matter is with the ICO.

And once again, well done PC Crosland - cop of the year 2018!

Edward Williams

Dear Public Access,

The correct spelling is Crosland.

The matter is now with the ICO.

Yours sincerely,

Edward Williams

Edward Williams

Dear Thames Valley Police,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Thames Valley Police's handling of my FOI request 'PC Glen Crossland'.

CROSLAND is on a YouTube video acting unlawfully, the follow-up video seemingly shows the letter of apology and money damages paid out. If the videos are false then you can state this publicly. If the videos are genuine then CROSLAND'S behaviour is already a matter of public record. I want to see the response to the complaint filed against CROSLAND.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/p...
