Payments made under The Riot Compensation Act(s)

Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime did not have the information requested.

Dear Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime,

I am investigating the financial impact of rioting and other instances of civil unrest on individuals and businesses in the UK. I would therefore like to submit this request under the Freedom for Information Act 2000 to access data on payments made to individuals and businesses under the Riot Compensation Act 2016 and Regulations made under it, the Riot Compensation Regulations 2017 and The Riot Compensation (Amendment) Regulations 2018.

Given the restrictions on the cost to comply outlined in Section 12 of the Act, I would like to request in the first instance data from 1st January 2019 onwards. If the restrictions outlined in Section 12 allow it, I would like to request any and all historic data from the day the Riot Compensation Act first came into force (23rd March 2016).

Further to this point, if the restrictions outlined in Section 12 permit, I would also like to request a breakdown of payments into ordinary claimants:

✔ cost of reinstating or repairing damage to the structure of buildings
✔ cost of replacement of irreparable or stolen possessions
✔ cost of repair of damaged possessions
✔ reimbursing stolen cash
✔ cost of replacement of irreparable or stolen stock held by a business
✔ cost of repair of damaged stock held by a business
✔ cost of replacing irreparable or stolen business-related property stored in a
vehicle
✔ cost of repairing damaged business related property stored in a vehicle
✔ cost of repairing damage to stock-in-trade vehicles
✔ cost of repairing or replacing damaged/stolen vehicles where only third party
insurance is held or the vehicle has a current Statutory Off Road Notification
(SORN)
✔ excesses paid for insurance claims, for items that fall into the categories above

On approval, I would ask that the data be presented in Excel spreadsheet format and the data on payments to be separated into those made to individuals and those made to businesses (both anonymised).

Yours faithfully,

Dan Rawle
