Payment for closing Middleton Road for filming for 6-7 days

Waiting for an internal review by Derbyshire Dales District Council of their handling of this request.

Dear Derbyshire Dales District Council,

Could you please provide how much the council has been paid for the closure of Middleton Road, Wirksworth for 6-7 days for filming by EE / Disney film production company during June 2021.

Will this money be put into areas of need for Middleton by Wirksworth and the Town of Wirksworth for closing the main roadway from the village to our closest town with shops / Night time entertainment and leisure facilities.

We have been asking for installation of a waste bin along this road for ages now via our local MP and our parish council but advise it is not affordable.

I guess it must be affordable now after having the road closed for a week to allow companies with no ties to the local communities this road serves to film and bring no benefit to the local area inconvenience caused to them during this period of time

Yours faithfully,

Rod Alvin

Dear Rod Alvin

Thank you for your recent request for information under the Freedom of
Information Act 2000. The answer to your question is as follows:

Could you please provide how much the council has been paid for the
closure of Middleton Road, Wirksworth for 6-7 days for filming by EE /
Disney film production company during June 2021.

The Cost of road closures is available on the Council website at the link
below.  The event required a road and a public footpath being closed
(which is classified as a Road) so the production company incurred 2
charges.

[1]https://www.derbyshiredales.gov.uk/envir...

Will this money be put into areas of need for Middleton by Wirksworth and
the Town of Wirksworth for closing the main roadway from the village to
our closest town with shops / Night time entertainment and leisure
facilities.

The Council, by law, can only charge for the cost of processing the
application and cannot make a profit, therefore the charges go to cover
the cost to the Council in Officer time in processing and approving the
road closure.

We have been asking for installation of a waste bin along this road for
ages now via our local MP and our parish council but advise it is not
affordable. I guess it must be affordable now after having the road closed
for a week to allow companies with no ties to the local communities this
road serves to film and bring no benefit to the local area inconvenience
caused to them during this period of time

This is not a question or request for information and therefore not a
valid FOI request.

Dear FOI Team,

So you are saying the major road linking our village to our closest town was closed for nearly a week for Events that primarily benefit businesses or other commercial organisation and for a charge of £63.50? Causing many issues for local traffic and major inconvenience to thousands for nearly a week?
Sound like many a person would like to just do that for all manner of reasons just to cause a nuisance if this is the only charge applied.

How long can you ask for a road to be closed for? Maybe I will ask for the Main Road into Matlock to be closed for a week during the summer months as I would like to go around filming without having any cars in my photos and filming, would this be on the same basis then?
Yours sincerely,

Rod Alvin
