Payment details of Special Advisers since January 2017
Dear Northern Ireland Assembly,
http://www.niassembly.gov.uk/assembly-bu...
Meaning of “special adviser”
1. -(1) A person (P) is a special adviser if subsections (2) to (4) apply.
(2) P is appointed to a position in the Northern Ireland Civil Service by a Minister.
(3) P is appointed only in order to advise the Minister.
(4) The terms and conditions of the appointment provide that P will cease to hold that position on the date the Minister ceases to hold office.
Please provide the following information:
- who is the Special Adviser for each Department?
Given the detail of the legislation cited above, specifically para 1 (4)
- have all the Special Advisers been paid from January 2017 to date?
If so,
- why?
- who took the decision to keep paying them?
- how much is the Special Adviser for each Department paid per year (not a range - the actual amount)?
- now that the MLAs salaries have been cut, is it proposed to stop paying Special Advisers? If not, why not?
Yours faithfully,
M Maguire
