Pay and display ticket machine logs

Tony Hirst made this Freedom of Information request to Isle of Wight Council

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear Isle of Wight Council,

Please would you provide me with a copy of the dataset in electronic form (for example, well formed CSV, well formed Excel spreadsheet, database export file - PDF is not acceptable) relating to:

- raw data detailing the ticket machine identifier/code and location, ideally with latitude and longitude co-ordinates, for each pay and display ticket machine operated by the Isle of Wight Council during the financial year 2012-2013

- raw data you have associated with the car parking tickets issued from the Pay and Display ticket machines at the River Road Car Park, Yarmouth for the financial year 2012-13. Specifically, I would like a copy of transaction data logs for all tariffs where each log item records: the date and time of issue, the ticket machine identifier, the tariff type, the amount actually paid for the ticket. For example:
Transaction Report
01/04/2012 11:43:10,YARR01,River Road 1 Yarmouth,01C,LS with Cch £1.90 1->2hrs,£2.00

Yours faithfully,

Tony Hirst

Vrba, Helen, Isle of Wight Council

Dear Mr Hirst

Thank you for your request for information relating to parking ticket
machines and other related data.  As required by law, the Council will

Chancellor and is £450 which equates to a maximum of 18 hours of search
and retrieval time.

Should your request fall into this category, we will notify you as soon as
possible, to discuss any options available to you.

The Council may also charge you the cost of disbursements, such as
photocopying and postage.  Should such costs be incurred in providing you
with the information you have requested, you will be notified of any
charges as soon as is reasonably practicable.

If you have any complaints in respect of your information request, please
write to the Corporate Information Unit at the above address, or complete
the on-line appeals form that can be found at www.iwight.com/information.

Dear Mr Hirst

I am writing to advise you that the time limit for responding to your
request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, which
we received on 14 February 2014, needs to be extended.

The regulations allow us 20 working days to respond to your request from
the date of its receipt. However, it is occasionally necessary to extend
the 20 working day time limit for issuing a response.

In this case, I regret that we must extend the time limit for responding
by ten days because of the complexity and volume of the request. I hope to
let you have a response by 28 March 2014.  If there is any further delay I
will keep you informed.

If you have any complaints in respect of your information request, please
write to the Corporate Information Unit at the above address, or by email
at [Isle of Wight Council request email], or complete the on-line appeals form that can
be found at www.iwight.com/information. If your complaint is not resolved
to your complete satisfaction, you have the ultimate right, once you have
exhausted the internal appeals process, to appeal to the Information
Commissioner.

Regards

Helen Vrba

Dear Helen Vrba,

Thanks for getting back to me and letting me know about the extension. If it helps I have made a similar, more localised, request before: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/t...

The transaction report released as file 5 appears to have data relating to individual transactions (location, timestamp, tariff, revenue received) so it is possible to generate that sort of report?

I appreciate though that the query may take a little time to run for this more comprehensive request and will probably result in a large CSV file. If it makes generating the files easier, I would be happy to accept the data if it is split into different files, eg by location. I will then reaggregate them myself.

Alternatively, if it is easier to produce a database export eg as an SQL file, that would be acceptable too.

Yours sincerely,

Tony Hirst
