The request was successful.

Dear Chelmsford Borough Council,

Under the Freedom of Information Act, I would like to know how many times your council has had to bury or cremate somebody (when no family or friends were willing to pay for costs) during the past three years. Could you also give the ages of those who were given such funerals?

Yours faithfully,

Martin Green

Dear Chelmsford Borough Council,

The response to your request has been delayed. You can say that, by law, the authority should normally have responded promptly and by 6 August 2010, so it is already 5 days late. I sent identical requests to other authorities at the same time and have received all the information already from them.

Yours faithfully,

Martin Green
