Dear  James Plant

Thank you for your recent request for information under the Freedom of
Information (FOI) Act 2000.

We are now in a position to respond to your request.

Your request /Our response :

1.    Please state the number of patients who have been blacklisted by
Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals Trust after they have
complained about the standard of treatment they have received at The
Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.

The Trust welcomes  feedback from our patients regarding all aspects of
their treatment and care.   No patients have been  "blacklisted" from
BSUH NHS Trust " after they have complained about the standard of
treatment they have received at the Royal Sussex County Hospital ".
There have been two instances in the last 6 years where, given the
irrevocable breakdown in the therapeutic relationship,  two
patients were referred to an alternative NHS provider for the specific
aspect of their care that they were unhappy with.

2.      Please provide a breakdown of the figures for each of the last
five years.

2011  - 1 ; 2012  - 1

3.      Also, how does the hospital note the fact these patients are
blacklisted in their patient records there?

Such decisions are reached with the individual clinical
team responsible for providing treatment who are therefore, fully aware
of the patient's management plan.  Details of the clinical plan and
referrals  made, will be sent to the patient's GP, a copy of which will
be held in the patient's hospital medical records.  As per the NHS
Complaints Regulations , any documentation relating to the patient's
complaint is not retained within their medical records.

Please note that any information provided by this Trust is for your
personal use and not for resale or use for profit in any way under the
Re-use of Public Sector Information Regulations 2005.

If you require clarification or if we can be of any further assistance to
you, please do not hesitate to contact us at: [1][BSUH request email]
