Patient treatment options for inherited cardiac conditions

The request was successful.

Dear North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust,

As a patient with an inherited cardiac condition (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy) I would like to establish what centres within the ICS would I be under the care of? I.e., what hospitals have a dedicated inherited cardiac conditions team. If they do not have a dedicated team or would not treat the condition where would patients be referred to? Specifically, would a local hospital manage drug treatment up until the stage of surgery (septal ablation or surgical myectomy)? If surgery is not offered where would the patient be referred to?

Dear FOI (NORTH TEES AND HARTLEPOOL NHS FOUNDATION TRUST),

Please note I am still awaiting a reply to this FOI.

The original reply stated info not held but I don't believe this to be correct as other foundation trusts have replied.

I have re-worded it slightly to ensure it is more specific to NT&H NHS foundation trust.

1. Inherited cardiac condition (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy) I would like to establish what centres within the health board would I be under the care of? I.e., what does NORTH TEES AND HARTLEPOOL NHS FOUNDATION TRUST hospitals have a dedicated inherited cardiac conditions team?

2. If they do not have a dedicated team or would not treat the condition where would patients be referred to? Specifically, would a local hospital manage drug treatment up until the stage of surgery (septal ablation or surgical myectomy)?

3. If surgery is not offered where would the patient be referred to?

Yours sincerely,

David Smith
