Patient numbers and outcomes at GIDS
Dear Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust,
Please could you make available the following information for (as far back as possible to) 2009-10 to the current year (2018-19)
* number of patients currently on the waiting list.
* number of patients currently receiving psychological therapy only (no medication prescribed)
* number of patients currently prescribed puberty blocker medication
* number of patients currently prescribed cross sex hormones
* number of patients discharged from the service
Could you also indicate the current expected waiting time to first appointment for someone added to the waiting list?
If you can't provide the complete data; the important thing (I'm trying to challenge the narrative that puberty blockers and hormones are given out too easily) would be the number of patients currently prescribed blockers and hormones - a simple figure might be the number of patients who have seen an endocrinologist in the year.
Yours faithfully,
Eloise Freya

Dear Ms Freya
FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 - INFORMATION REQUEST
Your request for information, as detailed in your email below, has been
considered in line with the requirements of the FOI Act 2000, and the
information requested is as follows:
1. Number of patients currently on the waiting list.
As of 31^st December 2019 there were 4220 patients on the GIDS waiting
list.
2. Number of patients currently receiving psychological therapy only
(no medication prescribed)
We confirm that this information is held by the Tavistock and Portman NHS
Foundation Trust, but that the cost of collating the data would exceed the
appropriate limit that is provided within the Freedom of Information Act
2000. The Trust is therefore not obliged to respond to this question and
so will not be processing it further. Please see below for more
information about the costing of answering your request.
· The data is held within individual patient files.
· We cannot automate its collation, as the patient records system
we use does not have a dedicated field for this data.
· We estimate that it will take 20 minutes per patient file to
identify and extract the data for collation into a report.
· To search the thousands of patient files necessary to supply an
answer would therefore take at least 500 hours of staff time.
· Section 12 of the freedom of information act allows a public
authority to refuse to deal with a request where it estimates that it
would exceed the appropriate limit to comply with the request. The
appropriate limit in the NHS is currently £450 or 18 hours of staff work
at the standard rate of £25 per hour.
If you wish to narrow the scope of your request, then we will treat any
new question as a fresh FOI request, and we may be able to help you.
3. Number of patients currently prescribed puberty blocker
medication
We confirm that this information is held by the Tavistock and Portman NHS
Foundation Trust, but that the cost of collating the data would exceed the
appropriate limit that is provided within the Freedom of Information Act
2000. The Trust is therefore not obliged to respond to this question and
