Further to your request made to Colchester Hospital University NHS
Foundation Trust for information relating to the above and pursuant to the
Freedom of Information Act 2000, please see the Trust’s response below.

You requested:

Question One: Does the Trust have a Patient Entertainment offering? Yes,
in all applicable wards; Yes in some wards or No

·         Yes in some wards.

If Yes in all or some wards:

Is the system free or charge for patients, or is the service chargeable
for either all or some content?

·         We understand from the provider that all patients have access to
free services; free radio 24/7 (including the exclusive outlet for
Hospital Radio), free television Channels (1-5) from 8am to mid-day and
free outbound telephone calls to 01, 02 and 03 numbers. Access to
television services are also free in children's wards from 7am to 7pm. 

Does the system offer information services in addition to entertainment,
for example nurse call or meal ordering?

·         The current system does not have the facility to provide
anything other than entertainment and calls.

Can you advise if you are under contract with a provider, and if so, who
it is with and when that contract expires?

·         The Trust currently has a contract with Hospedia and the
contract is due to expire (January 2019).

If No

Does the Trust have plans to implement a Patient Entertainment System and
if so do you have an approximate date?

Are you considering additional services such as nurse call or meal
ordering or solely entertainment?

·         The Trust would consider these items as and when the contract
expires

Are you able to provide a contact for Patient Entertainment for additional
dialogue on the subject?
