Freedom of Information Enquiries,

Dear Mr Smith

I refer to your request for information (e-mail below)

The University has carefully considered your request and concluded that it cannot provide the requested information. The University does not provide copies of past papers as the Oral Health Science subject field is narrow and questions are repeated in class tests and examinations from year to year with limited changes. To provide the requested information would mean that future questions in examinations on this programme would be released into the public domain and therefore the effective conduct of examinations in this field would be likely to be substantially affected.

The University is relying on an exemption under Section 30 (c) of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 Prejudice to effective conduct of public affairs. Information is exempt information if its disclosure under the Act would prejudice substantially, or be likely to prejudice substantially, the effective conduct of public affairs.

In reaching this decision the University has considered the public interest test and concluded that the interests of the public are best served by ensuring all students on the programme have the same opportunity to undertake an unseen examination.

Please also find attached a review notice setting out the steps you may take if you are not satisfied with the response provided to your request.

If there are any questions in relation to this request, please contact the University at [Glasgow Caledonian University request email].

Yours sincerely
Jean Ash
