Parking in Disabled Parking spaces
Dear South Somerset District Council,
I am a disabled driver - who cannot walk more than a few feet and appreciate the provision of disabled parking spaces being provided near to the entrance to shops for which I have a BLUE BADGE.
However - these valuable parking spaces are missused on many occasions - including those outside PURE GYM at Houndstone business park - by a brand new TESLA in particular
This car regularly parks outside PURE GYM ! The driver clearly is concerned more that his glossy new car won't be scratched by using a normal parking space than he is about genuine disabled drivers not being able to park !
As you are, I hope, aware - parking in a designated disabled person’s parking place without displaying a valid disabled person’s blue badge in the prescribed manner (both on and off-street, PCN codes 40 and 87) is ILLEGAL !
Can you please ensure that these parking spaces are left for the people that need them
Yours faithfully,
Colin Paterson
Dear Colin Paterson
Thank you for your email.
South Somerset District Council do not consider this to be a valid FOI
request as you have not described the information that you are requesting.
In regards to your request relating to non-Blue Badge holders parking in
car park spaces marked for disabled customers outside of Pure Gym at the
Houndstone Business Park, as this is private land, SSDC do not have any
car parking enforcement rights. You will need to contact the land owner in
regards to this matter.
Yours sincerely
