Parking fines & Blue Badge Parking
Dear Newham Borough Council,
I would like to enquire about the short-stay bay on Whitta Road near Manor Park station. The bay permits parking for 5 minutes with no return in 1 hour. A blue badge driver who parks here may park, according to your website:
Where you can park in Newham using a Blue Badge
If you clearly display a valid blue badge on the dashboard or facia panel of your vehicle, you can park for free, for as long as you need in a:
Permit holder bay (resident, business, visitor permits)
Paid for parking (on street pay by phone only parking bays)
Shared use parking bay (permit holders and paid for parking)
Free short stay parking bay
Blue Badge only bays
As long as you display the clock showing the time you arrived and a valid Blue Badge in your vehicle, you can also park:
On single or double yellow lines for up to three hours when there are no loading restrictions
Given the above, I would like to know how parking fines have been issued to blue badge drivers using that bay and if so, will they be reviewed given it is unreasonable for someone with disabilities to have to get out of the car and back in all in five minutes - discriminating against those with disabilities.
Yours faithfully,
John Sween
