Parking Enforcement - Poor Signage

The request was refused by London Councils.

Dear London Councils,

Please forward to London Tribunals - attn Tribunals Manager

The House of Commons Transport Select Committee made this statement in their Seventh Report into Parking Enforcement:

The parking tribunals also have an important role to play in identifying patterns of poor signage in problem areas.

You have identified poor signage at the Clapham Park Road bus lane over the past 5 years in appeals upheld and yet no improvement has taken place in the signage since 2010. Over 100,000 motorists have been fined at this location during this period and approximately 300 appeals have been heard at London Tribunals, nearly 200 of which have been rejected.

I request details of how you carry out the role referred to above and what action you take when you continue to get appeals at locations where you have identified poor signage resulting in earlier appeals being upheld.

Yours faithfully,

Charles Dawson
