Parents deemed to lack capacity
Dear Ministry of Justice,
From 2006 to 2009, 588 parents were deemed to lack the mental capacity to care for their children, and the children were removed from the parents.
(1) How many children were involved?
(2) How many of these children have since (a) been kept in foster care permanently, and (b) how many of these children were adopted out?
(3) Please confirm that these cases were handled by the Official Solicitor.
(4) If not handled by the Official Solicitor, please advise which authority acted as deputy or guardian in these cases.
A breakdown of figures by year would be appreciated if it is possible, please.
(5) Please advise how many parents were deemed to lack the mental capacity to care for their children, and therefore they were removed from the parents from 2009 to 2018, please?
For (5), will you also please supply information as in (1) to (4) above?
A breakdown of figures by year would be appreciated if it is possible, please.
Yours faithfully,
Jean James

Dear Ministry of Justice,
Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.
I am writing to request an internal review of Ministry of Justice's handling of my FOI request 'Parents deemed to lack capacity'.
[ [I submitted ten separate requests for information. It is an extremely corrupt act for Oliver Lendrum to group them together as one request and deny me answers on the basis of it involving too much time. People are getting tired of officials abusing the system. I am entitled to answers for each of my requests without FOI officers abusing the system.
What is it about this request that the Ministry of Justice wishes to hide from the public? ] ]
A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/p...
Yours faithfully,
Jean James
