Paralympic cauldron celebration
Dear Greater London Authority,
Please could you supply any and all communication, documentation, meeting minutes etc. – any information of any kind held – relating to the Paralympic cauldron (which was lit in Trafalgar Square this morning) and especially all information relating to any plans that may have been considered to hold a public celebration event (similar to those to be held over the next three evenings in Cardiff, Edinburgh and Belfast), and any discussion, decision-making, reasoning and other information as to why this is not happening in London.
Yours faithfully,
Mr. Speller

Thank you for your interest in the work of the Mayor and the Greater
London Authority, with the London 2012 Games taking place, now is an
extremely busy time at City Hall.
Staff at the Greater London Authority have been involved in helping to
deliver the Olympic and Paralympic Games from July and running through to
September.
Given these constraints, and the large number of contacts we receive
please bear with us. We would ask for your support and understanding
during this period to help us in delivering a successful Games for London.
We will aim to prioritise and respond to urgent enquiries, complaints and
requests for information during this time, but it may not be possible for
us to respond within our usual 20 working day service standard.
If you require information on the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games
then please refer to the following on our website at: : London Olympic and
Paralympic Games contacts information

Dear Mr Speller,
Thank you for your request for information which we received on 24 August
2012.
Some of the information may, in our view, be subject to the exemption at
section 38 of the Freedom of Information Act. The Act (ss.10(3) and 17(2))
allows public authorities to extend the period for responding to requests
under the Act if information requested may be subject to exemptions and
longer is needed to consider the public interest. I am writing to inform
you that it will be necessary to extend the time limit to respond to your
request beyond 20 working days. We expect to have made a decision in this
matter by 22 October, though if we are able to make a decision before
then, we will contact you sooner.
Yours sincerely
Paul Robinson

Dear Greater London Authority,
Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.
I am writing to request an internal review of Greater London Authority's handling of my FOI request 'Paralympic cauldron celebration'.
I cannot understand why there was any controversy about providing the information required on time, but even setting this aside, the vastly extended deadline you set yourselves has now also passed (yesterday) and I have still heard nothing.
It's my understanding that, by law, under all circumstances, I should have had a response to this request by now.
A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address:
http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/pa...
I look forward to hearing from you about my request and the reasons for this delay, as well as receiving a response to the original request very soon.
Yours faithfully,
Mr Speller

Dear Greater London Authority,
Could you please give me updates as soon as possible on the progress of:
(a) My original request from August, which was due to be answered during September and was then deferred until 22 October, and remains unanswered, with no further updates since September.
(b) The internal review of your handling of (a) which I requested three weeks ago and have heard nothing about.
I'm extremely disappointed not to have heard anything at all from you about any of these matters, so many months after my original request, which should legally have been answered within 20 days.
You should surely be able to supply at least the information you did not think might be exempt while you are deciding if the other information is exempt?
The full history of this request can be seen here:

Yours faithfully,
Mr Speller
