Paper costs and carbon footprint reduction targets

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Copeland Borough Council should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Copeland Borough Council,

I am currently compiling data on the cost to both the environment and expenditure on the use of paper.

I would be grateful if you can give me information on the following:

1) The total amount of reams of paper used by the authority in the last 12 months
2) The amount of expenditure on printing, photocopying, and consumables for internal purposes. We are not interested in the amount of expenditure for printing of publications for external use.
3) The amount of recycling of paper from your offices.
4) Does the local authority have a target to reduce the use of paper - if so what is the current progress?
5) Does the local authority have a target to reduce their carbon footprint - if so what is the current progress?

Yours faithfully,

A R Shaw

Clifford Walker, Copeland Borough Council

Dear A R Shaw,

Please accept my apologies for the delay in response to your FOI request of 16 October 2017. FOI 6537/17

In September 2017 Copeland Borough Council was subject to a significant ‘Ransomware’ cyber-attack which has severely impacted upon our ability to respond, within time guidelines, to all FOI requests dependent upon where and how the required information was stored.

The recovery is an ongoing project with the Council in a repair/rebuild stage and at the time of writing I am unable to give any timeframe for possible full recovery.

I will retain your request on record as ‘open’ and will endeavour to provide the required information as soon as I am able.

Regards,

Cliff Walker
