Pandemrix vaccine and narcolepsy/cataplexy,

The request is waiting for clarification. If you are Angus Files, please sign in to send a follow up message.

Dear Department for Work and Pensions,

Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 could you please supply the following information.
How many vaccine damage claims lodged with the VDPU in respect of the Pandemrix vaccine and narcolepsy/cataplexy, said to be in the region of 60 -70 persons, (1) have received an award since the DWP lost their appeal at the Court of Appeal in February 2017 in respect of “John” who received the Pandemrix vaccine and subsequently suffered from narcolepsy.

(1) https://www.hja.net/press-releases/dwps-...
"There are currently pending in the UK about 60-70 cases similar to John’s, where narcolepsy was caused by the 2009 pandemic swine flu vaccine, but where compensation was refused by the DWP. There are also a number of other cases from other vaccines."

Yours faithfully,

Angus Files

Dear Operations FOI Requests,
Please advise as to whether or not the 2 claims who received an award since the Court of Appeal judgement in "John" February 2017, were awarded their payment by a First Tier Tribunal Judge at a subsequent hearing or as a result of a review of the initial claim and an award being authorised/made by the VDPU in the absence of a FTT judgement.

In the event that the award was made at a FTT hearing, please supply the citation number of each case and or a link to the Judgement.
Thank you

Yours sincerely,

Angus Files
