The request was successful.

Dear Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council,
Please advise when and to whom the first report (date and time) to Wirral Borough Council regarding the large amounts of Palm Oil "boulders" on the beaches was made by the coast guard or other persons/authorities?.
Please advise what action was taken at that time (dates and times)?
Please advise what overall action was taken and when (dates and times)?
I am looking to piece together a timeline of this event.
Thank you

Dear Mr Golding

Thank you for your recent request for information regarding palm oil
deposits on Wirral beaches.  Please see below the Council’s response to
your enquiry.

·         Please advise when and to whom the first report (date and time)
to Wirral Borough Council regarding the large amounts of Palm Oil
"boulders" on the beaches was made by the coast guard or other
persons/authorities?.

The first report of Palm Oil deposits on the beach close to the  Black
Pearl in New Brighton was received from the Maritime & Coastguard Agency
at 16.50 hours on Monday 2^nd April 2018 to the Wirral Council Control
Room. There were no further calls made to the Control Room by any other
persons or agencies.

·         Please advise what action was taken at that time (dates and
times)?

2^nd April 2018 Following receipt of the call the Control Room Contacted
the Duty Environmental Health Officer to inform them that the deposits
were being removed by Coastguard and other local volunteers.

·         Please advise what overall action was taken and when (dates and
times)?

Tuesday 3^rd April 2018

·         Parks and Countryside staff confirm that the beach at New
Brighton has had all deposits removed and there were no further reports of
any deposits.

·         A sample of the deposits collected for analysis by relevant
Authority.

·         Joint press message advising to avoid contact with the Palm Oil
and to ensure that all dogs and pets are kept on a lead.

·         Parks & Countryside staff advised to remain vigilant for further
siting’s/deposits

·         Information and details shared with Liverpool and Sefton
Councils

Since the initial report there have been sporadic/periodic siting’s along
the Leasowe/Moels/New Brighton shoreline by both Council and Coastguard
staff, with all deposits effectively removed.

We trust this information is of interest to you.

Yours sincerely
