I am writing further to your request for information about Pakistani
heritage citizens and employees, which was received on 4 April. The
answers to your questions are as follows.
1. Data on Pakistani heritage citizens within the local authority as
a percentage of the overall population
The latest available figures are in the ONS Mid 2009 Population Estimate.
The figures for Pakistani citizens are 4,300 people equating to 2.1% of
the borough population.
2. Data on Pakistani heritage employees of the local authority –
numbers, as a percentage of the overall council workforce and by grade and
department, including schools
Please see the attached spreadsheet.
3. Details of any Positive Action programmes to address Pakistani
underrepresentation in the workforce, if any, and the impact of such
programmes which may have run in the past.
There are no positive action schemes as detailed in question 3.
4. Number of Pakistani heritage elected members and as a percentage
of the overall
