Paedophile Conspiricy

We're waiting for John Affleck to read a recent response and update the status.

In previous request FOI65578

20/03/08 CLAIM OF DBC: In 2006 DBC was awarded more than £3,000,000 for nine men who were subjected to sexual abuse as children at Berkshire County Council's Green Field House.

22/11/13 RBWM state quote: “The legal costs that DBC received were £732,500”.
22/11/13 RBWM state quote: “Settlement for all of the claimants came to £569,750. I don't have any note of what the total Berkshire CC legal fees came to but for the first nine claimants, £52K was incurred”.

JOHN AFFLECK: There is a massive discrepancy between the £3million plus, that DBC claim they were awarded in 2006 for 9 victims and the £1.3million RBWM claim to have paid out to 16 claimants in total. However, by 2010 there were twenty one successful claims against RBWM by ex residents of Green Field House. DBC dealt with all 21 claims by 2010. So under the FOI I would like to know the true figures paid out by RBWM. RBWM are at best mistaken and at worst committing deception, which is a matter for the police to investigate. I would also like to know the RBWM’s policy, on entering into conspiracies with suspected paedophiles for financial gain and in return taking a vow of secrecy.

To help me formalise my complaint against RBWM to the Home Secretary and others, under the FREEDOM OF INFORMATION act can you please confirm the figures quoted in FOI65578 are correct.

Kind regards

J Affleck

Dear  Mr Affleck

I am writing in response to your Information request:

FOI66300

I would like to know the true figures paid out by RBWM. RBWM are at best
mistaken and at worst committing deception, which is a matter for the
police to investigate.

Response:  I can confirm that there were 21 claimants rather than the 16
which were originally stated in our response. This error occurred because
the figures relating to a group of 5 claimants from 2007 were
inadvertently not included in the original calculation.

Our records show that the total outlay is still nowhere near the £3M
that’s cited. Including the total damages and costs of the five claimants
mentioned above, £207,500 and £115,000 respectively, revised total damages
for all 21 claimants of £772,250 and total third party costs £847,500,
grand total (split between Berkshire County Council and its insurers) of
£1,624,750.

Please note that our own legal costs are not included because we do not
hold this information – we do not have a recorded calculation of that
total.

I would also like to know the RBWM’s policy, on entering into conspiracies
with suspected paedophiles for financial gain and in return taking a vow
of secrecy.

Response: We do not hold any information related to this part of your
request. Under the terms of the agreement to contribute towards Berkshire
County Council’s (BCC) costs it was absolutely explicit that the terms
remain confidential.
