Oyster fare changes for the ELL extension and latest OSI list

The request was successful.

Dear Transport for London,

I would like information on forthcoming changes to the Oyster system. In particular I would like to know all the point to point fares that will be changing to account for new journey opportunities provided by the ELL extension from Surrey Quays to Clapham Junction. Please also confirm when these changes will take effect from. I would also like to know whether any further consideration is being made to providing pink route validators at Surrey Quays given that it will soon be a more important interchange location for people wanting to avoid zone 1.

Please also provide an updated list of Out-of-station interchanges including the time allowed to walk between each pair. I am particularly interested in whether any of the Olympic OSIs (eg Aldgate - Aldgate East) are being made permanent and whether the Blackfriars closure OSIs have yet been removed.

Finally, please provide a station plan of the location of the gatelines at Canary Wharf LU station and those designated as E2.

Yours faithfully,

Mike Whitaker

Please see the attached spreadsheet which lists only what has changed as a
result of the ELL extension to Clapham Junction (pre-existing through
journeys via Zone 1, for example, remain as they were so are not shown).

The first tab shows the journeys which now have the TfL local farescale
associated with them. The second tab shows existing National Rail local
journeys which have changed from being classified as Zones 2-3 to Zone 2
only as a result of the new service. The fare changes have all been made
from 21 October 2012. Oyster route validators for Surrey Quays are not
currently being considered.

The second attachment provides the current list of Out-of Station
Interchanges. Those related to the Olympics and Blackfriars closure are
now all discontinued.

Also attached is a plan of Canary Wharf LU station showing the gatelines,
and specifically the E2 gates.

Dear FOI,

Thank you very much for the prompt response to my recent request. The list of OSIs has generated a few questions which I wonder whether you can answer as a supplementary to the origianl request.

1) There are OSIs between the terminals on the Emirates cable car and within each terminal. Are these set up to allow the system to work because my understanding was that the cabe car is a seperate entity which cannot be combined with other rail services?

2) Why has the OSI between the two parts of Wembley Central been withdrawn?

3) Can you explain what the use of the same station OSIs at Richmond and Woodford is?

Yours sincerely,

Mike Whitaker

Dear Mr Whitaker

TfL ref:  FOI-1290-1213

Thank you for your further email received by Transport for London (TfL) on
6 November 2012 asking for information about changes to the Oyster system.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 and TfL’s information access policy. I can confirm
that TfL does hold the information you require.

 1) There are OSIs between the terminals on the Emirates cable car and
within each terminal. Are these set up to allow the system to work because
my understanding was that the cable car is a separate entity which cannot
be combined with other rail services?

The Emirates Air Line OSIs are for paper tickets only; Oyster ticketing is
not affected by them. They are simply a device to ensure that paper
tickets are returned to customers after use so that the tickets can be
kept as souvenirs.

2) Why has the OSI between the two parts of Wembley Central been
withdrawn?

The Wembley Central OSI became redundant following station improvement
works. Interchange to/from the Southern platforms is now entirely within
the station.

3) Can you explain what the use of the same station OSIs at Richmond and
Woodford is?

The Richmond and Woodford OSIs are provided to assist customers needing to
take a step-free route when interchanging within the station. In both
cases the step-free routes involve exit from and re-entry to the paid
area. In the case of Woodford the OSI is only between the manual gate at
the Eastbound platform and the Wide-Aisle Gate at the Westbound platform.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable
to access it for some reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached
information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
