Dear Transport for London,
I am writing to request several pieces of data about the Oyster Card.

1) How many Oyster Cards are currently canceled?
2) How many Oyster Cards are currently registered online?
3) How many of each individual type of Oyster card have been issued to date?
4) How much does an Oyster card currently cost TfL from creation to sale?
5) A record of how many times Oyster Cards have been touched for payment to readers in the network each day throughout this year.

Thank you for your time.
Yours faithfully,

Callum Halford

Thank you for your email received on 11 December 2016 asking for
information about Oyster cards.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of
the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  I can
confirm that we hold some of the information you require as follows:

 1. How many Oyster Cards are currently cancelled?

19.5 million

 2. How many Oyster Cards are currently registered online?

20.7 million

 3. How many of each individual type of Oyster card have been issued to
date?

Oyster Retail cards: 86.0 million

Oyster Photocards: 10.9 million

Visitor Oyster cards: 4.4 million

These figures include cancelled cards.

 4. How much does an Oyster card currently cost TfL from creation to sale?

From creation to sale it costs TfL around £1 to procure each Oyster card.

 5. A record of how many times Oyster Cards have been touched for payment
to readers in the network each day throughout this year.

We only have the last 8 weeks of data, which is shown in the attached.
These are taps made for PAYG travel only as other Oyster ticket types do
not involve payment by journey.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable
to access it for some reason, please feel free to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to
appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would
