Own Initiative Report ~ PIP - Complaint Volumes pt2
Dear Northern Ireland Public Services Ombudsman,
The Ombudsman’s statement, published on your website dated 21 January 2019, regarding the proposal to commence an investigation into PIP clearly states, “that since June 2016 there have been a significant number of complaints about PIPs to her Office.” This would indicate that, to substantiate reporting it as “a substantial number”, the Ombudsman must have known the number of complaints made about PIP to her Office at the time of that statement.
Could you please provide:
1. the number of complaints about PIP to which the Ombudsman referred when reporting her intention to investigate? Also,
2. please provide the number of PIP complaints referred, or forwarded for further action, by the Ombudsman to the Department for Communities prior to January 2019?
Yours faithfully,
Lizzie Carlisle
