Outcome of planning applications for Ryedale gasfields

Ruth Hayhurst made this Freedom of Information request to North Yorkshire County Council

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear North Yorkshire County Council,

On 21 January 2020, North Yorkshire County Council's planning committee voted that it was minded to approve an extension of operations at Third Energy's Ryedale gas fields until 1 December 2035.

A formal decision could not be made because Friends of the Earth had made a request to the government for a screening direction.

The committee agreed that the formal decision would be delegated to planning officers.

The applications were as follows:
NY/2018/0108/73A – KM-A wellsite
NY/2018/0112/73A – KM-B wellsite
NY/2018/0113/73A – pipeline network to Knapton Generating Station
NY/2018/0114/73A – Malton A Wellsite
NY/2018/0116/73A – Malton B Wellsite
NY/2018/0117/73A – Pickering Wellsite
NY/2018/0118/73A – Marishes Wellsite
NY/2019/0079/FUL – KM-A Extension Wellsite

My questions are:
1. Has formal planning consent been granted on the gas fields applications?
2. If so, when were the consents granted and when were the decision notices issued?
3. Has the government given screening directions on the Ryedale gas field applications?
4. If so, what were the outcome of the directions?

Yours faithfully,

Ruth Hayhurst
