Mr Winter

FOI/16149 - Out Of Control Dogs:

Thank you for your request for information. In answer to your enquiry I can
provide the following response on behalf of East Dunbartonshire Council:

Although your email does state Aberdeen City Council I am assuming that you
are perhaps looking for the information from all Scottish Local
Authorities. As such I have attached the information requested as recorded
by East Dunbartonshire Council.

1. How many complaints were received about dogs being out of control?
Provided in spreadsheet attached - these figures are in regards to all
control of dog complaints/concerns.
2. For each complaint made, what action was taken? Information on the
number of Warning letters and Dog Control Notices issued is provided in the
spreadsheet attached. For the remainder of the complaints the outcome
could vary between eg - reported for information only, Police Scotland led
investigation, advice given, etc and as such this information is not held
in a collated format.
3. What breeds of dogs were complaints made about? Provided in spreadsheet
attached - the breed of dog in the cases investigated by ourselves which
resulted in either Warning Letters or Dog Control Notices is detailed. For
the remainder of the complaints the information on the breed of dog is not
held in a collated format.
4. How many dog control notices were issued? Provided in spreadsheet
attached.

(See attached file: FOI - 16149 - Out Of Control Dogs.xlsx)

In respect of questions 2 and 3 East Dunbartonshire Council does not keep
all of the information requested in a collated format and in order to
provide the information a manual search of our records would be required.
The costs of obtaining this information would incur fees that would exceed
the upper cost limit of £600 as set out in the Fees regulations of Annex 3
of the Code of Practice on the Discharge of Functions by Public Authorities
under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 and we are therefore
unable to release the information.

The cost was calculated as follows:

Staff time £15 x 50 hours = £750

Should you have any questions on the content of the response and would like
the Local Authority to clarify or explain, please do feel free to get in
contact, citing the enquiry reference number above.

Regards

Diane
