Brent Council - INFORMATION REQUEST

Our Reference: 1376219
====================================================

Dear LC Looi

I acknowledge your request for information received on 19 December 2012.

Your request is so wide ranging that I am unable to estimate the time it
would take to respond. It is Council policy not to supply information that
exceeds the “appropriate limit” of £450 specified under the Act. This is
permitted by the Freedom of Information and Data Protection (Appropriate
Limit and Fees) Regulations 2004. This £450 cost ceiling equates to 2 ½
days of officer time spent in gathering and compiling information.

To help me respond to your request I need you to clarify the extent of
what you are seeking.

To help you focus on what information I may be able to supply you, I have
attached a commentary to the various parts of your request.

I will be on leave from tomorrow until 20 January and will be unable to
respond until I return.

The 20 working day timetable for responding to your request is halted
whilst we await the further details requested. If these are not received
within 60 days of this letter the request will be closed.

Yours faithfully,

Ian Hamilton,
Head of Business Support

Dear Ian Hamilton,

Many thanks for replying. The reason for my request for this information is so that I know who to contact in order to offer low cost effective security services (live in guardian and also other more traditional security measures) for vacant properties (either residential or commercial) which are going to be made vacant or are already vacant for whatever reason.

This service also benefits the community at large (cheaper short to medium term housing for working professionals whilst keeping the area and properties secure) and gives the council some income in terms of council tax payments too.

I am focusing on regeneration projects that councils are involved in (local authority or housing association housing) because they are larger in scale, but I am also looking into the private sector parties too who are involved in the process who might be interested in this kind of security measure.

I hope that clears things up for you. Many thanks.

Yours sincerely,

L.C. Looi
