Operational cost breakdown of Heritage Route 9 & 15

Transport for London did not have the information requested.

Dear Transport for London,

Referring to the recent comment made by TfL's head of consultation on the proposal to remove all AEC Routemasters from the Heritage Number 9 bus route ("...because it costs more than £1m a year to operate, owing in large part to the upkeep of the 60-year-old buses"), could you please provide me with a breakdown of operational costs of these Routemasters. If possible, could the breakdown of cost please differentiate between the two Heritage routes.

Yours faithfully,

Mr Brown

operational cost breakdown of Heritage bus routes 9 and 15.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of
the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.
Unfortunately, we do not hold the information you have requested on the
actual maintenance costs of these vehicles because this is undertaken by
our contracted bus operators. Nevertheless, labour would make up the
principal cost of operating such routes. If you would like to contact
First London West (Heritage route 9) and East London, a subsidiary of
Stagecoach (Heritage route 15), please refer to their websites below:

Please note that as private companies these operators are not subject to
the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and therefore are not
obliged to provide the information you require.

We awarded contracts for Heritage bus routes 9 and 15 at the annual prices
of £1,123,318 and £1,155,328 respectively, as detailed on our website at:
