Operation Thatcham
Dear West Yorkshire Police (WYP),
Please disclose the following by way of the Freedom of Information Act in respect of Operation Thatcham, a high profile 'crash for cash' investigation that resulted in the conviction of 45 males in April 2014 for conspiracy to defraud.
There are numerous press reports, available via open source, that indicate that the operation began in March, 2011:
1. Name, rank of Gold Commander.
2. Name, rank of Senior Investigating Officer.
3. Terms of reference.
4. Date of first entry in policy log (policy book).
5. Date of last entry in policy log/book.
6. Budget for the operation.
7. Expenditure on the operation, broken down by years ended 31.3.15; 31.3.14; 31.3.13, 31.3.12, 31.3.11.
8. Details of any funding received by WYP from either the Ministry of Justice or the Insurance Fraud Bureau whom press reports describe as 'partners' in the investigation.
