Dear Sir or Madam, you recently made a request under the Freedom of
Information Request.

You state, “I am told that the One Stop Shop now a DWP office was built as
a "thank you" for some land HBC gave a developer”

I am not aware of the land or the building to which you refer. Please
could you be more specific? For example, to which building are you
referring i.e. in Runcorn or Widnes?  When was this supposed to have taken
place? I’m only aware of one DWP building, but this is not a ‘one stop
shop’ and this is not and never was owned by the Council.

Thanks.

Yours sincerely

Dear Wesley Rourke,
In Runcorn High Street there is a building that was formally an HBC One Stop Shop, now a DWP office

I was told some time back, by our council, that HBC didn't pay for the building but that developer paid for it, as a thank you for a piece of land given to them for building
What land was given away?
Regards GT

Yours sincerely,

G Taylor

Dear Sir or Madam, further to your request under the Freedom of
Information Act, my understanding is that the building you mention could
have formed part of a development of Runcorn Town Centre, within the
Government's Single Regeneration Programme 'Runcorn on the Mersey' which
ran from 1996 - 2000. There were several capital projects in the
programme, one of which was the relocation of Runcorn bus station, which
took place in 2000. You may know that the building you mention is in close
proximity to the bus station, so I can only assume that the building
formed part of this development. Given the passage of time, I have been
unable to find any further information on this.

Regarding the current use of the building, it is owned by Halton Borough
Council and is currently occupied by the Council's Halton People into Jobs
team, not the DWP. The team provides support to residents who may be
seeking work and or further education and training.

Yours sincerely
