On board train announcements and distances between stations
Dear London and South Eastern Railway Limited,
I'd like to request a digital copy of the announcements in use on all your trains. Including, but not limited to the classes 375, 395, 465 and 466.
Besides that, I'd like to request an Excel sheet or a document containing the distances between adjacent stations on your routes.
Yours faithfully,
Taurus Fan

Dear London and South Eastern Railway Limited,
Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.
I am writing to request an internal review of London and South Eastern Railway Limited's handling of my FOI request 'On board train announcements and distances between stations'.
I understand that you are unable to provide me with the announcements from your ElectroStar trains. However, I personally do not see a security risc to sending the announcements for your Networkers and other trains to me. If you hadn't told me about the VLC player and what can be done with that, I would never have thought about doing something like playing them on a real train. I always thought that PA systems were completely closed off from any separate influence.
And related to the second point of your answer, as I'm blind, I regretably can't access the sectional appendix on the Network Rail homepage. Believe me, I tried. So please could you provide me with the distances between stations?
A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/o...
Yours faithfully,
Taurus Fan
Dear Mr Fan
I will pass on your request for internal review as requested.
Unfortunately we only hold the distance between stations in the form of the sectional appendix published by Network Rail. We are therefore unable to separately provide the mileage / distance information requested. I have also searched the main industry data sources such as https://dataportal.orr.gov.uk/ and have been unable to find an alternative source.

Dear Taurus Fan,
Your request has been processed under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA).
As previously mentioned we are unable to provide the onboard announcement for the Electrostar trains as Southeastern would incur a cost in excess of the reasonable amount.
However, we have reconsidered the safety objections we initially raised regarding the onboard announcements on our other fleet and we no longer think these apply. We are therefore able to provide the onboard recordings for the High Speed and Mainline & Metro fleet. Due to the size of the files, we are unable to provide these in a single email. We will therefore forward the onboard announcements for the Mainline & Metro fleet separately.
