The request was successful.

Dear Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council,

I would be grateful if you would provide me with the following information;

What is the official status of Rocklands lane off the B5136 ?

The road is blocked by a gate and signs stating no public access for motor vehicles.

Is this official or can public vehicles use the road?

Yours faithfully,

Dear Mr Brown

Thank you for your Freedom of Information request in which you asked:

What is the official status of Rocklands lane off the B5136 ?
The road is blocked by a gate and signs stating no public access for motor vehicles.
Is this official or can public vehicles use the road?

In response Wirral Council can advise:

Rocklands Lane, north from Thornton Common Road, (B5136) is public bridleway 47, Bebington. Therefore it does not have public motor vehicle access rights.
Private vehicular access rights for local residents and Farm Machinery is not affected.
The locked gates are the landowner / tenant farmer gates and have been there for some considerable time and are there to prevent unauthorised vehicular access but allow horses, cyclists and walkers to pass.
The signs are legitimate highway signs put up at the request of the local residents.

Yours sincerely
