Information Commissioner's Office

6 December 2019

Case Reference Number IRQ0889218

Dear Mr Smedley

Thank you for your recent request for information. We received your
request on 8 November 2019 via the website WhatDoTheyKnow.com. Further to
our acknowledgment of 18 November 2019 we are now in a position to
respond.

We have dealt with your request in accordance with your ‘right to know’
under section 1(1) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA).

Your request

“How much did it cost to convert meeting room space into offices for
Senior Managers including the Commissioner? Please break it down by each
individual room and include furniture and electrical equipment. Please
also include costs that occurred following the conversions to adapt them
further.”

Our response

I understand your request to be for information relating to the costs to
convert meeting rooms into usable offices. I can confirm that we do hold
some information that falls in scope of your request.

Please find below an itemised list of the costs associated with converting
a meeting room and a document store room into an office in Wycliffe House.

I can advise that there have been additional meeting rooms whose purpose
has been changed to office space. However, these conversions were included
in the general works for Wycliffe and Sandfield Houses, so we do not hold
disaggregated costs or separate invoices for them. I can however confirm
that the total cost for furniture and general equipment, between
01/11/2018 and 31/10/2019 was £42,188.72 for Wycliffe House and
accommodation kit out costs (which includes furniture and general
equipment costs) for the same period for the new ICO office at Sandfield
House were £678,809.62.

I note that your request also includes the cost of electrical equipment
purchased for the office conversions. I can advise no electrical equipment
was purchased to specifically convert the spaces in question.

This concludes my response to your request for information. I hope the
information provided is helpful.

Next steps

I hope this response is clear. If you would like me to clarify anything
about the way your request has been handled please contact me.

You can ask us to review the way we have handled your request. Please see
our review procedure [1]here.

Following our internal review, if you remain dissatisfied with the way we
have handled your request, there is a statutory complaints process and you
can report your concern to the regulator. I have included information
about how to do this separately.

Your information

Please note that our [2]Privacy notice explains what we do with the
personal data you provide to us and what your rights are.

This includes entries regarding the specific purpose and legal basis for
the ICO processing information that people that have provided us with,
such as an [3]information requester.

The length of time we keep information is laid out in our retention
schedule, which can be found [4]here.

Yours sincerely
