Dear Imperial College London,

Please could you provide me with the following:

a) How many rooms (exclude allocated personal office space) does the University manage in total?
b) How many offices (exclude open plan space) are registered to the Department of Enterprise at the University?
c) On 25th July 2019 how many rooms across all University campuses would have been empty for all or a proportion of the day? Please list the buildings and campuses said rooms were available.

Yours faithfully,

cMilnes

IMPFOI, Imperial College London

Dear Ms Milnes,

I am writing to you to seek clarification on your FOI request below and to offer advice and assistance.

Regarding the first question, are you referring to all of the properties owned and/or managed by the College (the College owns over 100 buildings including Halls of Residence) or something more specific? Organisations do not usually assess their building assets/office spaces in terms of a room count so we are unlikely to be able to provide a count of the rooms we "manage". Are you hoping to access floor plans for our buildings? If so, which one/s? If you are able to give an indication of the type of information you are hoping to obtain, that would be helpful.

It is not possible to provide a meaningful answer to your final question. It is safe to assume that all rooms on campus (if you mean work-spaces) would have been empty for part of the day. Your question would seem to presume that the College constantly monitors occupancy of all rooms across all or any of our campuses. It does not.

I note that this is the fourth Freedom of Information Act request you have submitted to Imperial College since the end of September 2019. You may not be aware that organisations are able to refuse FOI requests if it would take more than 18 hours to comply with the request (Section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act). Organisations are entitled to aggregate requests from the same person on related topics for the purposes of calculating the time spent.

You may wish to reconsider your latest request in light of the comments above. We will take no further action with this request until we receive clarification from you.

Yours,

Anita Hunt
