INFO-ACCESS, University of Durham

Dear Requester

Thank you for your request for information from Durham University.
Colleagues have provided the information below/attached in response to
your questions.

I would like to know the following statistics of the course N207 Business
and Management with study abroad and N201 Business and Management from
2021 to 2023 separately.

1- Percentage of students that received on offer, conditional or
unconditional, applying from the UK

2-Percentage of people applying with A Level confirmed (not predicted)
results that did not get an offer despite having achieved the required
grades.

3- If possible, the most popular subjects that students which received
offers studied at a level.

Response:

Please see the response below. Please note the following general points
about the data provided, specific notes relating to the question are
detailed with the question response:

• Data has been provided for admissions cycles 2020-21, 2021-22 and
2022-23
• Data has been suppressed where necessary in line with HESA guidelines
• Applicants includes all who applied for the course regardless of the
outcome of their application
• Offers includes unconditional and conditional offers

Q1- Percentage of students that received on offer, conditional or
unconditional, applying from the UK

• Applying from the UK has been interpreted as students whose domicile
is the UK
• % received an offer applying from UK = (no. offer holders with UK
domicile/total number of applicants with UK domicile)*100

Course Code Course Title Admissions Cycle
2020-21 2021-22 2022-23
N201 Business & Management 57.9% 28.8% 36.5%
N207 Business & Management with year abroad 63.6% 39.7% 33.1%

Q2-Percentage of people applying with A Level confirmed (not predicted)
results that did not get an offer despite having achieved the required
grades.

This was calculated from the following data:

- number of applicants with confirmed results (at the time of application)
who met the standard offer grades of AAB, and subject specific
requirements of Maths A level or if no Maths A level above 7/A in GCSE
maths (total applicants met grades)

- number of applicants with confirmed results (at the time of application)
who were rejected despite meeting the standard offer grades of AAB, and
the subject specific requirement of Maths A level or if no Maths A level
above 7/A in GCSE maths (total applicants met grades – no offer)

=(total applicants met grades- no offer/total applicants met grades)*100

Course Code Course Title Admissions Cycle
2020-21 2021-22 2022-23
N201 Business & Management 6% 33% 60%
Business & Management with year
N207 abroad^1 NA NA NA

^1the % for course N207 cannot be provided as the number of applicants
meeting the required grades was less than 22.5 and is therefore suppressed
to prevent potential identification of individuals

Please be aware that N201 and N207 are competitive courses and application
numbers grew significantly during this period. Offers are made in line
with the Undergraduate Admissions Policy; for more details see
[1]https://www.durham.ac.uk/study/admission...

Q3- If possible, the most popular subjects that students which received
offers studied at a level.

The top 5 A level subjects that students who received an offer
(unconditional or conditional) had achieved or were predicted to achieve
at the time of their application
