I would like to request the predicted grades of offer holders predicted

Our response
The information that you have requested concerns the predicted A level
grades of applicants. Based on our preliminary assessment, we estimate
that to comply with your request would exceed the appropriate costs limit
under section 12 of the Freedom of information Act 2000, which is
currently set at £450 (equivalent to 18 hours work) by virtue of the
Freedom of Information and Data Protection (Appropriate Limit and Fees)
Regulations 2004.
This is because we estimate that to locate, retrieve and extract this
information would take longer than 18 hours to complete. UCL receives a
large volume of applications for this course per year and these
applications are not categorised by specific predicted grades. This means
that, to determine which applicants applied with the specific predicted
grades that you have listed would require a manual review of each
applicant’s file. Section 12(1) states that: “Section 1(1) does not oblige
a public authority to comply with a request for information if the
authority estimates that the cost of complying with the request would
exceed the appropriate limit.”
So, in accordance with section 12(1) the Freedom of Information Act 2000
(the Act) this email acts as a Refusal Notice.
Lastly, it may be helpful to know that, in accordance with UCL’s records
retention schedule, admissions records for unsuccessful applicants are
retained for 1 year after the end of the admissions cycle (please see Ref

This means that some of the information you have requested may no longer
be held.
Please note that the equivalent data based on the actual grades achieved
by those who received offers could potentially be provided, if you submit
a new request for this.
If you have any queries or concerns, please contact me using the details
provided in this letter and including the request reference number. If you
are unhappy with our response to your request and wish to make a complaint
or request a review of our decision, please email [2][email address].
Emails should include the words ‘Internal Review’ in the subject and be

you should write to:
