Dear Ms Grey

Re: Information Request – Off-Site Storage Costs

Thank you for your email on the 10th July, in which you requested the
following information. I can confirm that Historic England holds
information that falls within the scope of your request and that, under
the Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) 2004, I am able to provide
you with that information as attached.

How many staff members did your organisation employ in 2016/17, 2017/18,
2018/19. Please provide the total figure, I do not require a breakdown of
whether the staff were full time, part time etc.

2016/17 - 2381

2017/18 - 2367

2018/19 - 2291

Does your organisation use off site storage solutions for document
storage? If so, please provide the total cost to your organisation for use
of this service in 2016/17, 2017/18, 2018/19. N.B. This should include all

Yes, we do use an off-site storage provider

The Total costs (including VAT) for the 3 specified financial years:

2016/17 - £113,948.76*

2017/18 - £115,791.33*

2018/19 - £103,576.24*

*This includes the cost of storage, all file transactions including
retrievals and destructions.

Our Information and Records Management service is a shared service between
Historic England & the English Heritage Charitable Trust  and it is not
possible to separate the costs that relate to the English Heritage
Charitable Trust alone as the information held in the offsite storage
facility is a shared resource.

I hope that the information I have been able to provide is useful to you.
Details of our review procedure are attached.

Yours sincerely
