Dear The Universities and Colleges Admissions Service,

Would you please inform me of how many occupational therapy undergraduate places there are in England in 2021 September intake and 2020 September intake.

Would you also please inform me, how many places were there available over the same years for the pre registration masters course.

Finally, would you please confirm how many applications these courses received on both years. Thank you.

Yours faithfully,

Christopher Harris

Thank you for requesting information from UCAS under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA).

UCAS will respond on or before 13 April 2021, the date on which the 20 working day response period permitted by FOIA ends.

I, or one of my colleagues, may need to contact you again if the request needs to be clarified. If this happens, UCAS may respond later than the date indicated above as permitted by FOIA.

FOI, The Universities and Colleges Admissions Service

Dear Christopher

FOI-2021-03-14-01

Further to your request for information please find below the response from UCAS in regard to the specific information you have requested.

UCAS does not hold data on the number of places that are available on any particular course. We also do not hold data on the masters course, as these are usually applied to directly with the provider. Please note that as Occupational Therapy is now an NHS part-funded course, the provider won’t have much say on increasing or decreasing places from year to year.

We do hold data on the number of applications received for the undergraduate course and this can be commissioned via our EXACT service. We can report on applications to all courses with occupational therapy in their title for the closed 2020 cycle. As the 2021 application cycle is still live, we can show the data as at the January application deadline.

EXACT is a charged service and is supplied with terms and conditions that define the extent to which the results can be reproduced in publications. Further details on the service can be found via: https://www.ucas.com/corporate/data-and-....

Disclosure controls are applied to the data to reduce the risk of disclosing personal data about identifiable individuals. For counts, the controls include reporting each cell count to the nearest five. In particular cell counts of 1 and 2 are reported as 0. Rows that only report 0 are omitted from the output. These controls are applied to each cell independently so this may result in instances where totals do not equal the sum of the components. For derived statistics (e.g. means), to ensure these disclosure controls are not undone, a minor adjustment is applied, if necessary, such that the set of records contributing to each cell matches the reported cell count (to the nearest five). This involves either removing 1 or 2 records at random, or adding in 1 or 2 duplicates at random. If the number of values contributing to a cell is 1, 2 or 0 then it is displayed as 'N'. Rows that only report 'N' are omitted from the output.

In terms of the data available upon payment (through the EXACT service), as this information is accessible by other means, it is exempt from disclosure under Section 21 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

If you are not satisfied with the way in which we have responded to your request you may:

1) Contact us requesting that this matter is reviewed internally by UCAS. Your request will then be subject to our internal review process.
2) If you remain dissatisfied with the outcome of your internal review, you can contact the Information Commissioner's Office. The Information Commissioner can be contacted at: The Information Commissioner's Office,
Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF, telephone 0303 1231113, or for further details see their website www.ico.org.uk

Kind regards,
Jessica
