Dear McCutcheon, Alison - Communications,
many thanks for your prompt reply.
Could I please ask you to double-check that your figures are correct especially with regards to miscarriages as there appears to be a significant increase in 2022 without an increase in early pregnancy unit attendances.
If all correct, it would be very helpful if you were able to send your response in pdf format.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
Dr Julia Wilkens
Dear Dr Wilkens,
Thank you for contacting us.
We have been made aware of an error in the calculation of the figures in relation to the number of miscarriages in the year 2022. Please find enclosed an updated response.
Regards.
Alison
Dear McCutcheon, Alison - Communications,
many thanks for your reply and for sending the corrected figures.
I had expected that there might have been a typo and that the number may have been 1065 instead of 2065.
I note that the figure is now altogether different.
Could I please ask you to clarify how this error occurred and how you can be certain that the figure is now correct.
I look forward to your response.
Yours sincerely,
Dr Julia Wilkens

Can you ask them why their reported 'correction' appears to consist simply of subtracting the 2021 Miscarriages (1083) from the 2022 'erroneous' Miscarriage data (2065).
2065 - 1083 = 982 (the figure given for the 'correction')
Dear Dr Wilkens,
Thank you for contacting us. We are currently reviewing all figures contained within this FOI and will provide you with an update.

Can these figures please be reviewed and can it be explained why there are a thousand more miscarriages in 2022, but not a thousand more visits to early pregnancy clinics or a thousand fewer births.
This suggests that either the miscarriages number is a typo or the classification of what is miscarriage has been changed between 2021 / 2022.
Thank you
Chris.
