Numbers of visits by police to children's homes in Stockport in a given period

I wish to make a Freedom of information request for figures on the number of visits by police officers to the following Children's Homes in Stockport From 1st March 2009 to 1st September 2012:

1, Penarth Children's Home, 1, Glenfield Road, Heaton Chapel
2. Lerryn Children's Home, Parsonage Road Stockport
3. Bradfields Children's Home 21, Egerton Road Stockport
4. Dawlish Avenue Children's Home, SK5 8AX
5. Together Trust, Swann Lane, Cheadle Hulme SK5 7HR
6. Cygnet Springside, 1, Brownsville Road SK4 4PE
We need this information to help us to estimate some of the impact on policing needs of residential childrens homes in the area.

Dear Pat Ruaune,

Pat Ruaune left an annotation ()

GMP stated, in essence, that the work involved in retrieving the information requested would be too time consuming and expensive. It was therefore given the status of refusal.
However, the following is an extract from the letter. It does go somewhere to providing the sort of information requested:

"However, in accordance with Section 16(1) – the duty to provide advice and assistance – of the Act, GMP can advise that for the premises listed and time period requested there are a combined total of 2063 recorded incidents and crimes."

This shows 2063 incidents of crime connected with just a few of the care homes in the Stockport area. (Stockport has the second highest number of private care homes in the country) The information helps to form a judgement on a possible increase in crime statistics in areas where vulnerable children are taken into profit-making care homes.
