You asked us:

1. Would you please supply the total number of operations carried
out in all the hospitals in the trust, in the last twelve months to date.
Can you please divide the numbers

into surgical speciality (e.g gynae, ortho, vascular, urology, optho,etc)
per hospital and per division.

2. Can you please give me a break down of the ratio of staff (by
pay band/ grade) for each operating department in each hospital in the
trust.

Response:

1) Attached is data for the number of operations carried out in
each division. These are for the main Operating Theatres only and do not
include Endoscopy procedures carried out in the Endoscopy Suites at each
division.

2) Attached is the breakdown of the ratio of staff paid by pay
band for each operating department in each of the Health Boards hospitals.

November 2010 reference 329/10, and your subsequent request for a detailed
breakdown of procedures reference 411/10 received on 14 December 2010,

Applicants reply to information provided in relation to FOI Ref 329/10

I have reason to believe some of the information you have supplied is
incorrect. With regard to the number of gynaecological operations within
the three main hospitals, I understand that at least one of the figures
supplied by you is inaccurate. therefore, can you please supply the
figures for the gynae cases, separated into hysterectomies,
hysteroscopies, laparotomies, colposcopies, etc. I look forward to
receiving the amended figures in due course

Subsequent Request - Ref 411/10

1. Can you please supply the figures for the gynae cases,
separated into hysterectomies, hysteroscopies, laparotomies, colposcopies,
etc.

Response:

After checking our reporting systems we have established that the theatre
system used in the Wrexham (east area) of the Health Board report both
Gynaecology & Obstetric procedures as the specialty `Gynaecology'. As the
report was run initially by specialty, this would not contain any detailed
procedures and unaware of the type of procedures undertaken.

However, your subsequent request for a breakdown of the Gynaecology
procedures highlights areas such as caesarian deliveries etc. that would
normally come under the Obstetric specialty.

In the attached document these obstetric procedures are highlighted in red
to Wrexham (east area) breakdown list, providing a breakdown of the split
between Gynaecology and Obstetric procedures.
