Dear Dorset Council,

There were two other questions in my FOI request which have either been ignored or are being worked on.

The response to the first question could have been more helpful as I expect someone in Planning knows the answer. Searching for “Barton Farm” on your web site as suggested produces 97 results, most of them unrelated to the site in question in Sherborne. It would actually have been quicker for someone just to tell me the answer than write the response sent.

Yours faithfully,

Mr Hartley

James Fisher, Dorset Council

Dear Mr Hartley

Re: FOI Request - DC/00001512 - Numbers of dwellings approved, built and
planned at Barton Farm Site, Sherborne

I am emailing in response to the 2 concerns you raised about the handling
of this request.

Your Original Request

Your original request asked:

·         For how many dwellings was planning permission granted?

·         How many dwellings have been built or are under construction?

·         How many further dwellings are expected to be built?

Your Request for Internal Review

You raised the following concerns about our response:

1)      There were two other questions in my FOI request which have either
been ignored or are being worked on (“Concern 1”).

2)      The response to the first question could have been more helpful as
I expect someone in Planning knows the answer.  Searching for “Barton
Farm” on your web site as suggested produces 97 results, most of them
unrelated to the site in question in Sherborne.  It would actually have
been quicker for someone just to tell me the answer than write the
response sent (“Concern 2”).

Concern 1

I am sorry these questions were not addressed in the council’s first
response.  I have spoken with our Building Control Team who have advised
the council does not hold data confirming the latest number of dwellings
that have been built.  However, we have contacted the National
House-Building Council [1]www.nhbc.co.uk/AboutNHBC/Contactus/ who have
been signing off each building, and they have confirmed:

·         370 plots are expected to be built on

·         287 dwellings are either under construction or complete

·         83 dwellings are not yet started

Concern 2

I acknowledge that the information was not easy to find and agree it would
have been better to answer the question directly.  To confirm, planning
permission has been granted for 370 dwellings.

Outcome of Internal Review

I hope this response is helpful and that we have now answered the
questions to your satisfaction.

However, if you remain unsatisfied with the handling of this request you
have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office
(ICO).  The ICO are able to review the council’s responses and can be
contacted on 0303 123 1113 or via their website:
