Number of students per year
Dear East Norfolk Sixth Form College,
I am writing to request information under the Freedom of
Information Act 2000. In order to assist you with this request, I am outlining my query as specifically as possible.
I would like to know how many students began studying A-Levels at your college in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012.
I would be interested in any information held by your organisation regarding my request. I understand that I do not have to specify particular files or documents and that it is the department’s responsibility to provide the information I require. If you need further clarification, please contact me by email.
I would like to receive the information in electronic form.
If my request is denied in whole or in part, I ask that you justify all deletions by reference to specific exemptions of the act. I will also expect you to release all non-exempt material. I reserve the right to appeal your decision to withhold any information or to charge excessive fees.
I would be grateful if you could confirm by email that you have received this request. I look forward to your response within 20 working days, as outlined by the statute.
Yours faithfully,
Dominic Darnell
Hello Dominic,
A-Level are split into two segments, AS and A2.
Students can leave and get an AS a qualification, which is not a full A-Level. A2 students are AS students progressing to their second year, and then achieving a full A Level.
Are you:
1. Looking for students that have only studied full A-Level (A2).
2. Do you want to include mixed students? For example An A-level student can study 1 A2 subject, and BTEC. Do you want this included, or are you looking at only students that studied full A-Level?
Thanks
Andy

Dear Andy,
I am specifically looking for the number of students who started their AS year at ENSFC during the years I mentioned. I only want those who did A-levels, not mixed.
I hope this has cleared up the issue.
Yours sincerely,
Dominic Darnell
Hi Dominic
No problem I will get the data together and send over.
Kind regards
Andy

Dear Dominic,
Please find attached a spread sheet detailing the information you have requested.
I have provided the number of students that started A-Level only programmes in the years 2008/9, 2009/10, 2010/11, 2011/12, 2012/13.
I was unsure as to whether you were requesting the academic year or the year itself. To compensate for this I have included the data for 2008/9 thus covering both eventualities. I have also broken the information into AS only and A2 only. Following a point of clarification from me you confirmed that you required no 'mixed' students (e.g. 3 AS and 1 BTEC programme, 3 AS and 1 GCSE etc.) therefore these students have been removed from the headcounts.
Kind regards
Andy
