Dear Mr Finnigan
Freedom of Information request F2011- 09 - 603
We have looked into your request for information, and our response is
shown below.
The estimated number of traffic calming measures that exist within
Knowsley’s adopted highway network, by type of measure, is as follows:-
· Speed tables – 136 no.
· Junction tables – 183 no.
· Round top road humps – 678 no.
· Entry treatments (rumble devices) – 224 no.
· Speed cushions – 384 sets
· Road narrowing – 1 no.
Unfortunately the cost of all these installations is not held by the
Council due to their implementation pre-dating the scheme records that are
retained by the Council. Please advise if you wish this information to be
supplied for schemes implemented during the last 5-years, but realising
that the number of measures will be reduced accordingly from the data
provided above.
Unfortunately the Council does not separately itemise the maintenance
costs associated with traffic calming measures from wider highway
maintenance activities, and therefore this element of your request cannot
be satisfied.
If you need further information please see contact details below.
Kind regards,
Kayleigh Mason

Dear Mr Finnigan
Freedom of Information request F2011-11-704
We have looked into your request for information, and our response is shown below.
The estimated number of traffic calming measures installed by Knowsley Council over the last 5 years within the adopted highway network, by type of measure, is as follows:-
• Speed tables – 8 no.
• Junction tables – 23 no.
• Round top road humps – 58 no.
• Entry treatments (rumble devices) – None, although a number will have been brought forward by housing developers as part of Section 38 Agreements
• Speed cushions – 93 sets
• Road narrowing – None
The cost of their installation is approximately £1.75M. However it should be noted that these are the overall scheme costs, which for example may include design fees; traffic signs; road markings; temporary traffic management during installation; street lighting; footway/carriageway improvements; statutory undertakers costs; etc.
There have been no maintenance costs incurred at these schemes given that they have been installed within the last 5 years.
If you need further information please see contact details below.
