Number of snowploughs or gritters/snowploughs owned/hired by council
Dear Stockton on Tees Council
Yet again the borough is at a standstill. After the other recent snowfalls -notably 5th November 2017, 29th November and days after, around 9th December, 29th December and today (18 Jan 2018)., in which Stockton boroughs roads were still atrocious even after other adjoining boroughs were mostly clear - the A66 being a good example. During the last 3 months of being stuck in traffic/on the roads I have only ever seen ONE gritter- and that was a scaled down size. Please don't reiterate the "salt needs traffic use to work" line as the A66 in our borough was still covered when other boroughs it was CLEAR.
Can you tell me;
How many snowploughs or gritters does the council own?
How many does the borough hire/sub contract?
What is the cost of this subcontracting and how are they monitored
Can you give me a map of routes gritted, times and the prioritisation.
How often is each route gritted and how do you confirm this?
How much salt was used on each day snow was on the ground - broken down into usage per day - for approximate days see above
Please can you break details down into all days snow has been on the ground in the last 3 months - specifically the days requested above but any days following also
Yours faithfully,
G Stephens
