Mayor of London, Greater London Authority

Dear Silvia Maresca

Thank you for your request for information which the Greater London
Authority (GLA) received on 6 November 2017. Your request has been dealt
with under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

You requested:

I would like to know how many primary and secondary schools are today in
each one of London's boroughs, and how many of them do have
fire-preventing sprinklers in place.

We can today confirm that the GLA does not hold the information you have
requested.

The GLA is London's strategic government and does not operate in the same
way as local authorities, who are responsible for most schools in London.
The Borough Councils, would hold details of schools in their area and you
could make a request to them directly to find out what information they
hold about the number of schools in their area and whether they have
information about fire safety measures. You can find their websites at
[1]https://www.london.gov.uk/in-my-area.

You can also find and download up to date information about the number of
schools in each Borough on the government's website
[2]https://get-information-schools.service.....

The London Fire Brigade will not hold information on all London schools.
However, they may hold some information on schools where fires e.g. have
taken place and/or where the buildings have been audited. If you are
interested in information held by the Fire Brigade, you can make a request
direct by email [3][email address] or visit the disclosure
log on the LFB website - [4]http://www.london-fire.gov.uk/DisCat10.asp.

If you have any further questions relating to this matter, please contact
me, quoting the reference MGLA071117-3512.

Yours sincerely

Ruth Phillips
