Dear Lancashire County Council,

Please could you provide the name of the organisation commissioned to deliver Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy (IMCA)?

a) If you hold data on the number of referrals made in 2016/2017 please could you provide information on how many times an IMCA was instructed in each decision:

i. Long term Change of Accommodation
ii. Serious Medical Treatment
iii. Review of the Accommodation decisions
iv. Safeguarding

b) If you hold data on the number of referrals made in 2016/2017, please could you provide information on how many times an IMCA DoLS was instructed within each of these:

i. 39A DoLS process
ii. 39C DoLS process
iii. 39D DoLS process.

If you hold data on the number of challenges to decisions (formal complaints and applications to Court of Protection) under the MCA made by IMCAs please could you provide these numbers for 2016/2017 as well?

Many thanks for your help,

Yours faithfully,

K. Huijbers

To Collate this information would involve a manual trawl through case
files and as such would incur a commitment of resources in excess of the
limit of £450 set by the Freedom of Information and Data Protection
(Appropriate Limit and Fees) Regulations 2004 (SI No. 3244 of 2004), which
equates to 18 hours of work. Section 12(1) of the Freedom of Information
Act provides that a public authority is not obliged to comply with a
request where to do so would exceed such a limit.

Due to the nature of the information you are seeking, and the way in which
it is recorded, it is difficult to suggest a way in which your request can
be refined to bring it within the appropriate limit whilst still yielding
meaningful results.  However, if you wish to resubmit a revised request we
shall, of course, consider it and ascertain whether it is possible to
collate any relevant information within the limit

In the event that you wish to complain about the manner in which your
enquiry has been handled, you should write in the first instance to The
Freedom of Information Officer, Lancashire County Council, PO Box 78,
County Hall, Preston PR1 8XJ, or email
[1][Lancashire County Council request email] and the matter will be referred
to the Head of Information Governance for review and reconsideration.

If, after this stage, you remain dissatisfied, you have the right to refer
the matter to the Information Commissioner, whose contact details are as
