The number of pupils that left the school:

2. During year 12 in academic sessions 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 (to present day),

Dear Royal Grammar School,
Many thanks for your message of 14th September.

I asked if you could please provide the following information:
"The number of pupils that left the school:
1. Between the end of year 11 and the start of year 12 in 2016 and 2017,
2. During year 12 in academic sessions 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 (to present day),
3. Between the end of year 12 and the start of year 13 in 2016 and 2017,
4. During year 13 in academic sessions 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 (to present day)".
I'd be very grateful if you could explain which of your numbers corresponds to which of my requests.

I would also be most grateful if you could check the information you have so kindly provided.
On 15th Jan 2018 I asked one of our local secondary schools "Could you please let me know how many pupils, if any, transferred to your school from a Buckinghamshire grammar school for the start of year 12 and the start of year 13 in September 2017. Also, if possible, the number from each school". The response for your school is below:
The Royal Grammar School - HW 12 6
The Royal Grammar School - HW 13 2
Apologies if I've misunderstood your response, but there seem to be more pupils arriving at this school from RGS than you think are leaving?

Yours sincerely,

Neal Skipper

Dear Neal

I am very sorry, we may have misunderstood the request regarding the
11/lower 6^th transfers - your figures are possibly correct but I will
check.
As you will know, students have to qualify for a place at RGS.  Some that
do, still choose to go elsewhere for the sixth form due to course offers,
preference for co-ed, or a college environment.

Kind regards

FOI

Dear Royal Grammar School,
Many thanks for your response.
I simply asked for the number of pupils that left your school within the given time frames:
"The number of pupils that left the school:
1. Between the end of year 11 and the start of year 12 in 2016 and 2017,
2. During year 12 in academic sessions 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 (to present day),
3. Between the end of year 12 and the start of year 13 in 2016 and 2017,
4. During year 13 in academic sessions 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 (to present day).
Please note that I would like the actual numbers of pupils that left the school, and not the change in your roll".

Dear Royal Grammar School,
To reiterate my previous messages, the long overdue information you provided was incomplete and appears also to be incorrect.
I would therefore be grateful if you could conduct an internal review of your response.
Yours sincerely,
Neal Skipper

Dear Mr Skipper

INTERNAL REVIEW

Thank you for your request for an internal review of the School’s
response.  The Headmaster has conducted this and has made the following
findings:

This FOI request has taken too long to deal with and I should like to
apologise for this.

The data should be straightforward to find.

I have instructed that this task should be completed within 24 hours of my
reminder.

The FOI team found your response to what, in their view, was a reasonable
‘hands up’ and admission of initial misunderstanding, patronising and
unhelpful.

Regards

Denise Chick

Dear Royal Grammar School,
Many thanks for your message. I look forward to receiving the information I requested in back in June.
In your original response you provided the following figures:
"date Year 12 Year 13
2018 4 1
2017 2 0
2016 4 0"
I would be most grateful if you could please explain what these numbers actually do represent.
Yours sincerely,
Neal Skipper
