Dear Home Office Freedom of Information Requests Department,

I would like to make a Freedom of Information (FOI) request:

1. Could you provide the number of Full-time equivalent (FTE) police officers for each year between 1829 and 2003 inclusive, and of these:
(a) the number of female police officers
(b) the number of Black and Ethnic Minority (BEM) police officers
(c) the number of police officers not in active duty, because of, for example paternity or maternity leave, sick leave, bereavement or for any other reason?

2. Could you provide the number of FTE police officers for each year between 2004 and 2017 inclusive, who are not in active duty, because of, for example paternity or maternity leave, sick leave, bereavement or for any other reason?

I would like to add that where it is not cost effective nor reasonable to find information for certain years, or if information was not recorded for a certain year, then that year should be omitted from this FOI request.

Where information is not available with regard to the number of female officers, BEM officers or officers not in active duty for Q1a, Q1b, and Q1c, then these should also be omitted from the FOI request. This however does not apply to Q2, where it is unlikely that the information would be unavailable.

If this information is available under section 22 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOI Act) then please let me know where I can find this information.

Also, please consider each question to be a separate FOI request, for the purposes of the FOI Act.
